Does Ring Doorbell Work with Google Home?

No, Ring Doorbell does not work with Google Home. There are rumors that Ring Doorbell’s certain features work with Google Home on the internet, but that’s not true. People were able to connect their Ring devices with Google Home with third-party services in the past. These third-party apps were used to provide motion alerts, battery checks, arming, and disarming features. Google Home does not support them anymore, as Amazon and Google are rivals.

What Features Work with Google Home?

Google Home does not support any features of the Ring Doorbell in 2025. It used to support the battery checks, arming, and basic motion alerts through Google Assistant. Google Home never supported the live video feed, video clips, two-way communication, and announcements, even with third-party integrations.

People were able to use the limited features of Ring Doorbell with Google Home. Amazon removed the feature to connect with Ring as a service in 2019. Ring option is not available to connect in “Add a Device” of Google Home.

Why Ring and Google don't Work Together

Ring  (Amazon) and Google Home (Google) are competitors. There is no native compatibility of Ring with Google Home. Ring Doorbell only works best with Alexa and other Amazon products. Ring Doorbell manufacturers are trying to integrate the Google Home in the future.

What Are the Alternatives for Full Integration?

Here are the three alternatives for people with Ring Doorbell:

  1. Speakers: Switch to Alexa-enabled devices completely. Use an Amazon Echo Dot or Amazon Echo to control audio instead of Google Nest speakers.
  2. Displays: Choose the Amazon Echo Show for watching live and recorded videos instead of Nest Hubs.
  3. Streaming: Swap the Chromecast with the Amazon Fire TV to enjoy all the smart features of the Ring Doorbell.

How to Integrate Ring Doorbell with Alexa?

Here are the steps to integrate the Ring Doorbell with Alexa instead of Google Home:

  1. Install Apps: Make sure to install the Ring App and Alexa app on your smartphone. Log in to Alexa and remember the credentials.
  2. Enable Ring Skills: Click on the “More” and then on games and skills to find the search bar. Search for Ring Skill and enable it.
  3. Link Accounts: Enable the account linking and add the credentials of the Ring account here. Click on authorize, and now Ring Doorbell is linked to Alexa.
  4. Set up announcements: Go back to the home and then click on “Devices” to create custom announcements. Select the camera and click on the gear icon in the top left corner to set press announcements. Change the sound of bell announcements and add custom phrases there.

My name is Ricky and I have been a mechanical engineer for 25 years. My 3D-printing journey started when I purchased my first doorbell camera. Once I installed it, I knew I needed to do something different. I wanted to see my doormat where delivery drivers would bring my items and I didn’t want to scroll through all the events. Due to my dissatisfaction, I started designing my own doorbell mounts. After some trial and error, I finally came up with the perfect mount solutions to meet multiple issues. We guarantee we have a doorbell mount on our shop to meet your specific concern.
