Blink has advertised this doorbell with a 2-year lifespan, a 1-year warranty, and frequent security updates until 31 December 2029. The lifespan of a doorbell depends on the frequency of wifi, motion detection, and camera usage. Users have reported that the Blink doorbell lasts for 18 months under moderate to heavy usage. It runs on non-rechargeable lithium batteries to withstand the extreme weather changes. The total time period of the Blink doorbell warranty changes according to the user's location.

What Warranty Does Blink Provide?

Blink provides a warranty on hardware defects, such as damage to cameras, video doorbells, and sync modules. They replace the damaged parts, repair or refund the actual price according to warranty rules. The period of warranty differs for UK, US, and premium subscribers. Standard warranty lasts for 1 year, and UK users get an extension of 2 years. Blink offers an extended warranty to Blink Plus plan subscribers.

Make sure to protect the doorbell from accidental damage, misuse, or third-party repairs. Blink does not offer a warranty in such cases and does not entertain unauthorized modifications.

⏳ Want Your Blink Doorbell to Last Longer? Start With Proper Mounting.

Your Blink doorbell is built to last — but placement plays a huge role in its lifespan. A secure mount protects against weather damage, improves motion detection efficiency, and reduces battery strain, helping your device perform reliably for years.

How Does Blink Handle Firmware Updates?

Blink provides software and security updates automatically for the doorbell and sync module. There is no manual trigger for firmware updates, whereas users have to update the Blink Home Monitor app from the Play Store/Apple Store. Blink has claimed firmware updates until 31 December 2029.

Delete and re-add the camera to the system if it doesn't get updates automatically. Reset the sync module from the reset button on its back or turn for a power cycle for the latest firmware.

Are Replacement Parts and Batteries Available?

Yes, Blink and a few authorized sellers offer replacement batteries. Make sure to get 1.5V Energizer non-rechargeable lithium batteries for optimal performance. Track the battery health from the Blink app and replace them on time to avoid missing alerts.

How Can You Future-Proof Your Blink Doorbell?

Set up the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and sync module to store the clips locally. Make sure to update the Blink app over time and integrate it with Alexa and the Echo Home Display for smooth interaction. Turn on the 2FA and restrict the third-party access to clip recordings. Install the Sycnc module inside the home to minimize the risk of damaging or losing the stored data.

What Are Common Lifespan-Related Issues to Watch For?

Here are the four lifespan-related issues to watch for:

  1. Battery degradation: Monitor the battery from the Blink app and replace it when required. Low battery alerts in winter are common due to the battery's ability to release power.
  2. Wi-Fi connectivity: Make sure to install a compatible wifi network within the recommended radius. Poor internet puts pressure on the doorbell, and it consumes more power, which lowers its lifespan.
  3. Component wear: The doorbell gets damaged over time due to extreme weather changes. Sunlight deteriorates its black unit, and snow damages its components, which leads to wear.
  4. Outdated firmware: Firmware automatically gets updated according to the blink instructions. Make sure to contact the app support if there are limited features or disturbances with the doorbell.

My name is Ricky and I have been a mechanical engineer for 25 years. My 3D-printing journey started when I purchased my first doorbell camera. Once I installed it, I knew I needed to do something different. I wanted to see my doormat where delivery drivers would bring my items and I didn’t want to scroll through all the events. Due to my dissatisfaction, I started designing my own doorbell mounts. After some trial and error, I finally came up with the perfect mount solutions to meet multiple issues. We guarantee we have a doorbell mount on our shop to meet your specific concern.
