How to Connect Ring Doorbell to Wi-Fi

Log in to the Ring app and charge the battery of the Doorbell. Navigate to the menu button and follow the steps that pop up to connect it to Wifi. Ring Doorbell is a smart alert system as it provides notification when someone passes in front of the camera. It also offers a live video stream option to see what's happening at home. Ring Doorbell requires a Wi-Fi connection to send alerts to our phones. It allows speaking to visitors and accessing the recorded videos. This Ring Doorbell relies on wifi for automatic updates and to follow the Alexa or Siri commands. There are limited battery-powered functionalities in this Ring Doorbell, so connect to Wifi to enjoy the smart features.

What Do You Need Before Connecting?

Here are the three things that are required before connecting to Wi-Fi:

  1. Device Preparation: Make sure to charge the battery of the Ring Doorbell before connecting it to Wifi. The low battery Ring doorbell does not work in setup mode, and keeps a setup kit along with it. This setup kit has the USB cable and screwdrivers that are required to prepare the device. Try to find the QR on the Ring Doorbell to avoid hassle later on.
  2. Wi-Fi Requirements: Make sure to know the password of the Wifi device before connecting to it. Use the 2.4 GHZ network as it's the standard and strong network. Many new models of the Ring Doorbell also use 5 GHz. Make sure that the Wifi signals are strong. Avoid turning on any VPNs on mobile when connecting to avoid changes in location. Rind Doorbel requires excellent signals, so mobile hotshots does not work.
  3. App Essentials: Download the Ring App from the Google Play Store on Android, Apple App Store on iPhoneand Amazon Store. Sign in if you already have a Ring account. Register to make a new account on the Ring App. Make sure to turn on the permission for the camera for scanning QR and location.

How to Connect Ring Doorbell to Wi-Fi via Ring App

Set up the Ring App first after navigating to the “Set up Device”. Find the device, such as Ring Doorbell, and tap on it. Make sure to scan the QR code from the back of the Doorbell, as it is present on the back faceplate of battery Doorbells. One can also rename the drive name before switching to the location. The app asks for location and makes sure to turn on the location feature to connect it without any issues.

How to Put Ring Doorbell in Setup Mode

The Ring App prompts to enter the setup mode. It also instructs to press and release the orange button located on the Doorbell. A white light begins to move when this button is clicked. Make sure to press “continue” to confirm the status in the app. The app confirms the status when wirifi connects to the Ring Doorbell, and this doorbell also changes its color.

My name is Ricky and I have been a mechanical engineer for 25 years. My 3D-printing journey started when I purchased my first doorbell camera. Once I installed it, I knew I needed to do something different. I wanted to see my doormat where delivery drivers would bring my items and I didn’t want to scroll through all the events. Due to my dissatisfaction, I started designing my own doorbell mounts. After some trial and error, I finally came up with the perfect mount solutions to meet multiple issues. We guarantee we have a doorbell mount on our shop to meet your specific concern.
