Standard Offset is the right pick for most residential installs where the Wired Elite is going next to brick. It clears: residential storm doors when the doorbell is mounted next to the door, side trim, and screen doors. The trade-off vs. Full Offset: this is a universal bracket, so depending on your doorbell’s exact dimensions, the body may sit slightly past the bracket edge on the door-facing side. If you have a thick storm door with heavy weatherstripping, or your install location is on the SIDE of a brick (where the brick edge protrudes past the doorbell), step up to the Full Offset version for a deeper, custom-fit bracket.

Installing Your Brick Standard Offset on the Ring Wired Doorbell Elite

  1. Prepare the Bracket: If you have a Ring doorbell already installed, remove the cover/faceplate first. For wired doorbells: turn OFF power at the circuit breaker. Disconnect the existing 16-24V wires from the old doorbell, cap with wire nuts, set the old doorbell aside.
    For the Wired Elite: doorbell needs Elite supports 802.3at PoE+ (44-57V DC, 30W) OR 16-24V AC (40VA recommended). For PoE+ installs, route a single Cat-5e through the center hole. For AC installs, 40VA dedicated transformer required — the Elite pulls more current than the Pro line.
  2. Wire Routing: Lead the existing 16-24V doorbell wires (or Cat-5e PoE cable for PoE installs) through the center hole of the base.
  3. Mount the Base: The base has 2 mounting holes designed to anchor in your WOOD TRIM (the trim board surrounding the brick around your door, typically a painted 1×4 or 1×6). Position the base over the trim and secure with the provided #6 screws using a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
    For wired-only installs the 2 trim screws are usually enough. If your bracket extends over 3 inches OR you’re in a high-wind/coastal area, also drive a screw through the optional brick-anchor hole for extra hold (1/8" masonry bit + brick anchor screw, sold separately).
  4. Attach the Mounting Bracket: Fasten the doorbell adapter bracket to the backplate using the four small #4 center screws (these come preinstalled in the bracket so you can see exactly where they go — just back them out, position, and reinstall). USE #1 Phillips PRECISION screwdriver for the smaller screws (#4 and smaller need a precision driver — a regular #1 is too big and will strip the screw heads).
  5. Connect the Doorbell: Pass the 16-24V AC wires (or RJ45 Cat-5e for PoE) through the front of the adapter bracket and connect to the Wired Elite. Polarity does NOT matter for AC; PoE is keyed and seats one way.
  6. Secure the Doorbell: Mount the Ring Wired Doorbell Elite to the bracket using the screws PROVIDED WITH THIS MOUNT — preinstalled in the bracket so you can see exactly where each screw goes (or in the hardware bag if shipped loose). Use the #1 Phillips precision driver.
    DO NOT USE the screws or wedge plate that came with your Ring doorbell. They’re sized for the stock Ring base plate, not our bracket.
  7. Finalize the Installation: Install/reinstall the Ring doorbell cover. Apply a small bead of clear silicone or paintable polyurethane caulk around the back perimeter where the bracket meets the trim/brick if needed (SKIP the bottom edge so any condensation can weep out). Restore power at the breaker if applicable. Open the Ring app → Live View. Verify framing and redraw motion zones to match the new mounting position.

Where do the screws actually go — into the brick or into the wood trim?
The base of the bracket has 2 mounting holes that anchor into the WOOD TRIM (the trim board surrounding the brick around your door, typically a painted 1×4 or 1×6). It does NOT install into the brick. There's also 1 OPTIONAL hole in the offset/extension section that can take a brick anchor screw for extra stability — recommended for Full Offset brackets, deep Brick Face extensions (>3 inches), and battery doorbells, but skipped on most installs.
Do I need any masonry drill bits or concrete anchors?
Not for most installs. The base mounts into wood trim using #6 wood screws (#2 Phillips driver) — no masonry tools required. Only if you use the OPTIONAL brick-anchor screw will you need a small (1/8") masonry bit + a brick anchor screw or sleeve anchor.
What screwdriver do I need for the small bracket screws?
A #1 Phillips PRECISION screwdriver. The #4 center screws that attach the doorbell adapter bracket to the backplate are too small for a regular #1 Phillips — you need a precision driver (the kind used for eyeglasses, electronics, model building). A regular #1 will be too big and strip the screw heads.
Do I lose any Ring features (HDR / Pre-Roll / Smart Notifications) using this bracket?
No. The bracket is a passive 3D-printed PETG part with no electronics. All Ring Wired Doorbell Elite features — Retinal 4K + PoE head-to-toe view, motion zones, Smart Notifications, Live View — work exactly as on the stock plate. After install, redraw motion zones to match the new mounting position.
Is the bracket weatherproof? Will it crack in winter?
