Upgrade your Ring doorbell while reusing your existing mounting holes. This black adapter plate connects the four-hole mounting pattern of a supported older Ring doorbell to the bracket for your selected new Ring Retinal 2K or 4K model. Choose a standard plate with subtle black mounting screws, or add a cover that conceals the base plate and its wall screws.
Compatibility: Select Your Old and New Doorbell
The newer, narrower Ring doorbells can leave the older doorbell's outside mounting locations visible. This adapter bridges the old wall-hole pattern and the new mounting bracket.
- Older Video Doorbell (2nd Gen): Choose this mounting pattern for the older model with an integrated, non-removable battery. It is different from Ring Video Doorbell 2.
- Older removable-battery model: Choose this pattern for the supported older removable-battery installation. Its upper pair of mounting holes sits nearer the center, with the other pair near the bottom.
- New doorbell: Select the exact Ring Retinal 2K or 4K model from the options. Resolution alone does not identify the mounting bracket.
Photo verification before ordering: Send a photo of your old mounting holes and the exact model of your new doorbell. Fit depends on both patterns; do not select an adapter based only on the words “Gen 2.”

How to Install the Ring Upgrade Adapter
- Prepare the installation: Turn off power before handling existing doorbell wiring. Remove the old doorbell and bracket. Confirm the selected adapter matches the existing four-hole pattern and the mounting surface is sound.
- Secure the adapter base: Route wires through the center opening if needed. Align the four outside holes with the existing wall holes. Install the supplied black wall screws into the chamfered holes using suitable anchors where required. Tighten gently until the heads seat flush.
- Standard option: Place the new Ring mounting bracket directly against the base. Attach it with the two supplied #4 × 1/4-inch screws.
- Covered option: Place the cover over the secured base with the recess facing the wall and the smooth side facing outward. Position the Ring bracket on the cover. Install the two supplied #4 × 3/8-inch screws through the Ring bracket and cover into the base. The cover hides the base plate and wall screw heads.
- Complete the Ring installation: Follow the instructions for your exact Ring model to connect any wiring, attach the doorbell, and secure it. Restore power if applicable and test.
Use the supplied short screws for bracket attachment. The longer wall screws are only for securing the adapter to the wall. Hand-tighten with a properly fitting screwdriver; do not overtighten.
