Does NOT fit: the newer Arlo Video Doorbell 2K/HD (2nd Gen) — different body with a separate clip-in face plate. Does not fit the Arlo Essential Wire-Free (AVD2001) — that's a different chunkier shape with a battery compartment. Also does not fit the original Arlo Audio Doorbell. Each Arlo body has its own dedicated mount listing. Also does not fit Ring, Nest, Wyze, Eufy, Aqara, Tapo, or any non-Arlo brand.

Confused which Arlo you have? The AVD1001 Essential Wired has NO battery compartment, NO USB-C charging port — just two screw terminals on the back for the transformer wires. The body is slimmer than the AVD2001 Wire-Free. If yours has a USB-C/magnetic charging port, that's an AVD2001 — different mount.

Wired-Only HD With the 180° Head-to-Toe View

The AVD1001 Essential Wired is the original Arlo doorbell that put the 180° head-to-toe view on the map. It's the simplest install path: existing chime wires in, doorbell out, no battery to remember to charge, no SmartHub needed.

The 1:1 head-to-toe aspect ratio shows you a visitor's full body in one frame — the 'package on the doormat plus the visitor's face' shot Arlo built its brand on. But that wide-angle view is only useful when it's pointed at the actual walkway. This 0-35° dual-axis swivel mount rotates the AVD1001 in any direction so the head-to-toe frame catches the porch instead of half a wall.

Internal Wire Routing — Hidden & Protected

Low-voltage wires enter from the wall, pass through the hidden internal channel inside the ball-joint mount, route through the front adapter, and connect directly to the doorbell terminals. No exposed wiring, no weather risk.

Customization & Add-Ons

Installing on the Arlo Essential Wired (AVD1001)

  1. Verify Wiring: Confirm your existing doorbell circuit is 16-24V AC with a 10VA-minimum transformer. Lower voltage = no power; higher voltage = damage. Check at the chime if unsure.
  2. Power Down:
    Turn the breaker off at the chime circuit. Verify with a tester at the existing doorbell wires before pulling them through the mount.
  3. Mount the Base: Pull the doorbell wires through the hole in the swivel base, position vertically or horizontally on your siding/trim, secure with #6 screws (PH2 driver). Anchors if not into a stud.
  4. Attach the Swivel: Route the wires through the swivel center, attach to the base with four #4 / PH1 center screws.
  5. Connect & Mount the AVD1001: Connect the two doorbell-circuit wires to the AVD1001's screw terminals. Snap onto the bracket using the screws PROVIDED WITH THIS MOUNT (PH1 driver) — not Arlo's stock plate.
  6. Pair via Arlo App: Restore power. Open the Arlo Secure app, scan the QR code, connect to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Set up motion zones, custom quick replies.
  7. Aim & Lock: Live View → adjust the swivel until the 180° head-to-toe frame covers your full porch (visitor face top, package zone bottom) → tighten the set screws.

Mechanical chime note: the AVD1001 works with existing mechanical chimes via Arlo's chime-bypass setup if needed. If you have a digital chime that won't trigger on the AVD1001's circuit, Arlo's Audio Doorbell or a Chime 2 plug-in (sold separately) is the fix.
