Does NOT fit: the newer Arlo Video Doorbell 2K/HD (2nd Gen) — that's a different body shape with a separate clip-in face plate. Also does not fit the Arlo Essential Wired Video Doorbell (AVD1001 — older 1st-gen wired-only model with a different body) or the original Arlo Audio Doorbell. Each Arlo body has its own dedicated mount listing. Also does not fit Ring, Nest, Wyze, Eufy, Aqara, Tapo, or any non-Arlo brand.

Confused which Arlo you have? The Essential Wire-Free (AVD2001) has a USB-C-shaped magnetic charging port on the back AND screw terminals (so it can run battery OR wired). It says "Essential" or "Wire-Free" on the box. If yours has a separate clip-in faceplate, it's the 2nd Gen Video Doorbell — different mount. If yours is wired-only with no battery option, it's the AVD1001 Essential Wired — different mount.

HD + 180° + Battery — The Sweet Spot

The Essential Wire-Free hits the sweet spot for most homeowners: HD video, 180° head-to-toe view (catches packages at the doorstep), works on battery for ~6 months between charges, and connects directly to your home Wi-Fi without buying Arlo's SmartHub.

The catch is the 1:1 head-to-toe frame is only useful if it's actually pointed at the porch. Doorbells are usually mounted next to the door, but the porch and walkway are usually offset to one side. This 0-35° dual-axis swivel mount rotates the camera in any direction up to 35° so the head-to-toe view catches the full visitor and the doorstep where packages land — not just half a porch and a wall.

Internal Wire Routing — Hidden & Protected

Low-voltage wires enter from the wall, pass through the hidden internal channel inside the ball-joint mount, route through the front adapter, and connect directly to the doorbell terminals. No exposed wiring, no weather risk.

Customization & Add-Ons

Installing on the Arlo Essential Wire-Free (AVD2001)

  1. Charge First: Charge the AVD2001 fully using Arlo's magnetic charging cable (about 4-6 hours from empty). Pair to the Arlo Secure app BEFORE mounting — easier indoors. The doorbell shows up as "Essential Doorbell".
  2. Optional: Plan Wiring: If you want trickle-charge from existing chime power, identify the existing wires (16-24V AC required) and plan to route them through the swivel base. Otherwise skip — the AVD2001 runs fine on battery.
  3. Power Down (If Wiring):
    If hardwiring: turn the breaker off first. Test with a multimeter or non-contact tester before touching the wires.
  4. Mount the Base: Position vertical or horizontal on your siding/trim, secure with #6 screws (PH2 driver). Anchors as needed if not into a stud.
  5. Attach the Swivel: Route wires through (skip if battery-only), screw onto the base with four #4 / PH1 center screws.
  6. Snap the AVD2001 In: Use the screws PROVIDED WITH THIS MOUNT (PH1 driver) — NOT Arlo's stock metal back plate. If hardwired: connect transformer leads first.
  7. Aim & Lock: Live View in the Arlo app → adjust the swivel until the 180° frame fully covers your porch (visitor face top, package zone bottom) → tighten set screws.
  8. Set Activity Zones: In the Arlo Secure app, set activity zones to exclude the street and include just the path/porch. Critical to do this AFTER aiming so zones reflect the actual frame.

Arlo SmartHub vs. direct-to-Wi-Fi: the Essential Wire-Free can run direct-to-Wi-Fi (no SmartHub needed), but pairing it with a SmartHub gives faster Live View startup and local SD storage. Plan based on your existing Arlo gear before final mount.
