Confused which Alarm.com doorbell you have? The VDB-770 is the slim wired model with portrait/vertical lens orientation, was launched 2021 and has the head-to-toe 1:1-style aspect ratio (taller frame than wide). VDB-750 has a smaller squarer lens face. VDB-780B has a battery compartment + charging port. VDB-755P is much chunkier with a PoE Ethernet port.

Pro-Monitored + Touchless + Head-to-Toe — Aim It Right

The VDB-770 is the most-installed Alarm.com doorbell at the moment — Brinks, Monitronics, COPS, and many ADT-affiliate dealers all standardize on it. Touchless ringing means the doorbell auto-notifies you on motion, no button press needed. Package detection analytics call out specific delivery events (separate from generic motion alerts). And the head-to-toe portrait frame catches the visitor's face AND the package on the doormat in one shot.

That head-to-toe advantage only works when the camera is aimed correctly. This 0-35° dual-axis swivel mount rotates the VDB-770 in any direction up to 35°, locks permanently with set screws, and routes the existing 16-24V wires cleanly through the joint. Locked aim is essential for pro-monitored installs — drift can register as a tamper event with your Alarm.com central station.

Customization & Add-Ons

Installing on the Alarm.com ADC-VDB770

  1. Coordinate With Your Alarm Dealer: If your Alarm.com system is professionally monitored (Brinks, Monitronics, ADT-affiliate, etc.), call your dealer before swapping the mount and request a 1-hour test mode. Replacing the doorbell can register as tamper.
  2. Power Down:
    Turn the breaker off at the chime circuit. Verify with a tester at the existing wires before pulling them through the mount.
  3. Verify Wiring: Confirm 16-24V AC at the doorbell location with at least a 10VA transformer. The VDB-770 is wired-only, no battery option.
  4. Mount the Base: Pull the doorbell wires through the hole in the swivel base, position vertical (the VDB-770's head-to-toe portrait orientation works best vertically), secure with #6 screws (PH2 driver). Anchors as needed.
  5. Attach the Swivel: Route the wires through the swivel center, attach to the base with four #4 / PH1 center screws.
  6. Connect & Mount the VDB-770: Connect the two doorbell-circuit wires to the VDB-770's screw terminals. Snap onto the bracket using the screws PROVIDED WITH THIS MOUNT (PH1 driver) — not Alarm.com's stock plate.
  7. Pair via Alarm.com / Customer Site: Restore power. Your dealer can re-pair the doorbell to your Alarm.com account remotely, or you can use the Alarm.com mobile app to add it (Add Device → Video → Scan QR code on the back).
  8. Aim & Lock: Live View in the Alarm.com app → adjust the swivel until the head-to-toe frame catches both the package zone (bottom) AND the visitor face (top) → tighten the set screws.
  9. Configure Detection Zones + Touchless Ringing: In the Alarm.com app: set motion zones to exclude the street, enable package detection, and configure touchless ringing thresholds. Confirm professional monitoring is back online if you put it in test mode.

Service tip: the VDB-770 only works through Alarm.com — meaning you need an active service plan from a dealer. If you cancel service, the doorbell becomes inert (no live view, no recordings).
