Customize Your Doorbell's Horizontal Offset (Side-to-Side Position)
Fine-Tune Your Doorbell Placement: Choose Your Horizontal Offset
Ensure your video doorbell fits perfectly next to your door and avoids interference with trim or the door itself! This option lets you select the horizontal offset – how far your doorbell is shifted side-to-side on the mount – relative to the edge closest to your door. Getting this right prevents your door from hitting the doorbell and ensures a clean installation.
Here’s how the offset options work:
-
Standard Offset (Default - 5/8" Shift Away from Door):
- What it is: This is our most common configuration. It shifts the center of your doorbell mounting bracket 5/8 inches away from the mount's center line, towards the side further from your door.
- Why choose it: If your doorbell is relatively narrow (approx. 1-1/4 inches wide or less), this standard 5/8" shift effectively moves the entire doorbell body clear of the mount's edge nearest the door, providing good clearance for most installations.
-
Full Offset (Maximum Clearance from Door):
- What it is: This option shifts the doorbell mounting bracket horizontally as much as needed so that the entire side of your doorbell body aligns perfectly with the edge of the mount closest to your door. The exact shift distance automatically adjusts based on your doorbell's specific width.
- Why choose it: Ideal for wider video doorbells or installations where the mount is very close to the door frame/trim. It guarantees the doorbell does not overhang the mount on the door side, giving maximum clearance and preventing any contact with the door or trim.
-
No Offset (Centered Position):
- What it is: This setting centers your video doorbell directly over the middle of the mount base or extension piece.
- Why choose it: Only suitable if you have ample space between your fully opened door and the adjacent wall/brick where the mount is placed. Use this only if centering the doorbell will not cause it to interfere with the door's swing path or hit the trim. Offers a symmetrical look when space permits.
Choosing Your Offset:
Consider your doorbell's width and how close your mounting position is to the door frame.
- Need maximum clearance for a wide doorbell or tight fit? Choose Full Offset.
- Have a standard setup with a narrower doorbell? Standard Offset is likely best.
- Have plenty of space and prefer symmetry? Choose No Offset, but double-check your clearances!
Select your preferred horizontal offset when configuring your Doorbellmount.com mount to achieve the perfect fit and function.
