This kit provides exactly what you need: a standard 6-inch pair of doorbell wires (Red & White, 20-22 AWG) plus your choice of easy-to-use connectors to quickly and securely splice onto your existing wires.

Perfect for gaining that extra reach needed for a clean and reliable installation with any standard low-voltage doorbell system (typically 24V or less).

Wire Nuts

The classic twist-on connector. Reliable and versatile.

Fits wire gauges: 16 AWG to 24 AWG
Voltage Rating: Suitable for Low Voltage (<24V) & High Voltage (up to 120V+)
Requires: Stripping wire ends, twisting wires together firmly, then twisting cap on tightly.
Size: Small enough to fit inside most doorbell mounts or wall boxes.
Tip: Optional: wrap with electrical tape after installation for extra security if placing inside wall.

UY-K2 Connectors (IDC Butt Splice)

Very small, quick, and waterproof option using Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC).

Fits wire gauges: 19 AWG to 24 AWG
Voltage Rating: Low Voltage ONLY (Perfect for doorbell circuits <24V)
Requires: NO wire stripping! Simply insert both unstripped wires fully.
Activation: Press the button/cap down firmly with pliers until flush. Internal spades pierce insulation and make contact.
Features: Contains waterproof gel sealant. Smallest connector, fits easily inside most mounts.

Lever Lock Style Connectors

Easy-to-use connectors with secure lever clamps. Often reusable.

Fits wire gauges: Widest range (approx. 28 AWG to 12 AWG)
Voltage Rating: Suitable for Low Voltage (<24V) & High Voltage (up to 120V+)
Requires: Stripping wire ends to specified length. Lift lever, insert stripped wire fully, close lever.
Size: Larger than other options, may not fit inside smaller mounts. Ideal for connections inside wall boxes.

WAGO Lever Connectors

Premium, industry-standard lever-style connectors known for reliability.

Fits wire gauges: Typically 24 AWG to 12 AWG (check specific model # if critical)
Voltage Rating: Suitable for Low Voltage (<24V) & High Voltage (up to 600V+)
Requires: Stripping wire ends to correct length. Lift orange lever, insert wire fully, close lever.
Size: Compact for their capability but potentially larger than wire nuts or UY connectors. Check mount space.

Solder Seal Connectors

Creates a soldered, sealed, and waterproof connection using heat shrink tubing with integrated solder.

Fits wire gauges: Ensure size selected fits 20-24 AWG doorbell wire.
Voltage Rating: Suitable for Low Voltage (<24V).
Requires: Stripping wire ends, inserting into connector sleeve (overlapping wires under solder ring), applying heat evenly with a heat gun until solder melts and tubing shrinks/seals.
Result: Strong, permanent, waterproof connection.
Requires a Heat Gun!

General Connection Guidance

Turn OFF Power to your doorbell circuit at the breaker.
Prepare Wires: Cut extension wires to needed length. Strip ends IF REQUIRED by your chosen connector (Wire Nuts, Lever Locks, WAGO, Solder Seal). UY-K2 connectors do NOT require stripping.
Make Connection: Join one extension wire to one existing wire using one connector. Repeat for the second wire using the second connector. Follow specific method for your chosen connector (Twist, Press Pliers, Close Levers, Apply Heat).
Secure (Optional): Wrap wire nut connections with electrical tape if desired, especially if tucking into a wall cavity.
Test: Turn power back on and test doorbell function BEFORE mounting doorbell fully.

Always prioritize safety. Refer to specific connector instructions if available. Ensure connections are secure and properly insulated according to their type.
