Installing a video doorbell sounds simple—until there isn't enough room beside the door.

The Problem: Almost No Flat Trim to Work With

Mike sent us a photo showing the installation area and asked which mount would work. The usable trim was extremely narrow, the siding projected out on one side, and the door frame left very little clearance on the other.

The completed installation is clean and compact and makes use of a space that initially looked too tight for the Ring doorbell.

What the Extension and Angle Actually Do

This top view makes the geometry easier to see. The extension moves the doorbell away from the trim and door frame, while the angled section changes the viewing direction of the camera.

This type of configuration can be especially useful when the original doorbell location is squeezed between siding and a door frame, when the frame projects farther than the mounting surface, or when the camera needs to look more directly toward approaching visitors.
